Teacher Interview

For my teacher interview, I set up a meeting time with one of my fellow teachers at an Educational Center here in Topeka. She is in the content area and level of children I would like to work with in the future and admire her teaching and discipline styles.

My first question was about her background and experience with children? She has worked with two-year-old children for twelve years and has been working with children for seventeen years. She has her CDA (Child Development Associate Certification) and has taken courses on conscious discipline as well as Washburn University courses.

My second question asked what types of technology do you have available? She responded that she does not use technology a lot in her classroom but when she does it involves TV/DVD player to show movies or educational shows.

The third question asked what technologies do you integrate into your lessons? Her response was that the children watch “Boz” once a week. It is a thirty-minute program that ties into our Religion program.

My fourth question asked what children learn using technology? Her response was socialization, taking turns on the computer, how to treat their friends, and values from the programs they watch.

The fifth question is your philosophy on educational technology? For the two-year-olds, I like the thirty-minute program and enjoyed the computer that was in the room. The desk got broken and the computer quit working and has not been replaced yet.

For the sixth question I asked how does your administrator view technology in the classroom? My director is fine with using the TV for educational purposes, limited to thirty minutes a week.

The final question I asked was what technology tool would you want most in your classroom? She responded that she would like to have her computer back in her classroom to help educate the children on the use of a computer through multimedia presentations, and the technology of tomorrow.
